Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Angelle Andras (age 27) of Choctaw on Tuesday, November 3. At around 4:25 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the 2600 block of Choctaw Road in Choctaw. Through investigation at the scene, deputies learned a man crashed into a residential mailbox while trying to avoid a head-on crash with another vehicle which had entered his lane of travel. The driver of the other vehicle approached the man and identified herself as Angelle Andras. She was reportedly showing signs of intoxication at the time. Andras left the scene of the crash, however, after informing the man that she was pregnant and her water had just broken.
While deputies were investigating the crash, Andras returned to the scene. She admitted to leaving the scene of the crash and consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the crash, but she refused to submit to a field sobriety test. Deputies later conducted a breathalyzer test which determined Andras to have a blood alcohol content of .08g%. Deputies learned her license was currently suspended and that she had two previous DWI charges. Andras was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on charges including DWI (3rd Offense), Interfering with a Law Enforcement Investigation, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and driving under suspension. Her bond has not yet been set.
