Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Tracy Eschette (age 36) of Lockport on Monday, May 16. At around 12:40 a.m. on Monday, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of LA Highway 1 in Raceland in reference to an aggravated assault. While responding to the residence, deputies observed the suspect’s pickup truck traveling southbound on LA 1 and initiated a traffic stop. As deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Tracy Eschette, a pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine fell out of the vehicle. Eschette immediately crushed the pipe by stepping on it, and she was detained. Deputies conducted an investigation of the assault and learned Eschette was providing transportation to an ex-boyfriend when she passed up his residence and ordered him out of the vehicle. Eschette began to pull away, but as the man walked toward his residence, Eschette returned and allegedly began driving directly toward the man. He jumped over a ditch in an attempt to escape, and Eschette drove through the ditch, back onto the highway, and fled the scene. Eschette was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux and charged with Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Obstruction Of Justice. Bond was set at $11,000, but she is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole due to a probation violation.
