Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Gerald Baker (age 59) of Houma over the weekend. At around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, deputies responded to a burglary in the Chackbay area wherein a subject had stolen items from two vehicles. Deputies also received a description of the suspect’s vehicle and course of travel. While en route to the location, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle on LA Highway 308 and initiated a traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, and he was identified as Gerald Baker. Inside Baker’s vehicle deputies located a gas can, two cases of water, and other miscellaneous items which had been reported stolen in the burglaries. Baker was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with two counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. His bond was set at $10,000.
