Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Gregory Harris (age 22) of Thibodaux on Saturday. During the early morning hours of Saturday, October 10, deputies responded to an incident on Carol Street in Thibodaux. Through investigation, deputies learned a juvenile female had invited an 18-year-old male subject into her home without her parents’ knowledge. Her father then discovered the male subject and informed him he was holding him at the residence until deputies arrived. The teen understood and was allowed to call his parents. Instead, deputies learned he called Gregory Harris who arrived at the residence a short time later and made forced entry, striking the girls’ parents with the door while doing so. Harris then retrieved the 18-year-old and fled the scene. Deputies then located Harris and made contact with him. Harris claimed he had nothing to do with the incident, and began walking away from deputies. As deputies attempted to detain him, he resisted and attempted to strike deputies in the face. Harris continued to violently resist, but deputies were eventually able to place him under arrest. Harris was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on two counts of Simple Battery, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence. He was released Sunday night after posting $10,300 bond. There was no evidence of any crime committed by the 18-year-old, and therefore, he was not charged in the incident.
