Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours of Wednesday, June 18. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
A total of 231 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint conducted along the northbound lane of LA Highway 308 at its intersection with U.S. Highway 90 on Wednesday, June 11. Of the 231 vehicles, the only violations reported were three (3) expired motor vehicle inspection stickers.
