Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint during the daylight hours of Wednesday, December 18 in Lafourche Parish. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
Wednesday's checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of Lafourche Parish safer for all motorists.
A total of 536 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint on Crescent Avenue in the Town of Lockport on Wednesday, December 11, resulting in the following violations:
- 17 expired motor vehicle inspection stickers
- 3 seat belt violations
- 1 expired driver's license
Sheriff Webre thanks the Lockport Police Department for their assistance in conducting the checkpoint. He also thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we work to make the roads of Lafourche Parish safer for everyone.
