Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint during the daylight hours of Wednesday, December 11 in Lafourche Parish. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
Wednesday's checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of Lafourche Parish safer for all motorists.
During the last Highway Safety Checkpoint on Wednesday, December 4, deputies reported the following violations:
- 26 expired motor vehicle inspection stickers
- 1 seat belt violation
- 1 non-approved DOTD helmet violation
- 1 window tint violation
- 1 expired license plate
- 1 misdemeanor possession of marijuana
